Powerful Alliance: Catalyst Press & Modjaji Books Launch International Publishing Partnership
Date: May 2025 | By : Editorial Team

We’re delighted to announce a transformative international publishing partnership between Catalyst Press and Modjaji Books, effective May 2025. This marks a major expansion of our successful collaboration that began in 2016, now reaching new global horizons.
Table of Contents
Catalyst Press has acquired international rights to five of Modjaji’s acclaimed titles, including:
- Bom Boy by Yewande Omotoso
- Do Not Go Gentle (published internationally as We Kiss Them with Rain) by Futhi Ntshingila
- Grace (as Unmaking Grace)
Expanding Global Reach for Acclaimed Titles
This groundbreaking partnership significantly enhances the global reach of Modjaji Books’ most celebrated titles, bringing powerful African narratives to a wider, more diverse audience. By joining forces with Catalyst Press, a respected advocate for international literature, these stories will now travel beyond regional borders — reaching new readers in North America, Europe, Asia, and other major literary markets.
The expanded distribution strategy includes partnerships with mainstream and independent bookstores, academic institutions, and digital platforms. Translated editions in languages such as French, Spanish, and German are in development to ensure accessibility across linguistic boundaries. These versions will preserve the cultural integrity of each work while introducing fresh perspectives to readers around the world.
To maximize visibility and audience engagement, the rollout will be supported by comprehensive marketing campaigns, strategic PR, and author-focused outreach. From global media interviews to guest appearances at literary festivals, each book will be given a platform to thrive internationally.
Starting in May 2025, flagship titles like Bom Boy by Yewande Omotoso will be available on leading retailers such as Amazon, Bookshop.org, and through Catalyst’s established distribution network of indie stores and academic booksellers. These efforts will ensure that African voices are not only heard — but celebrated — on a truly global scale.

Creative Collaborations & Community Events
Beyond international rights distribution, this creative publishing partnership opens doors to a wide range of vibrant literary collaborations and community-centered cultural programming. Through joint anthologies, co-hosted literary festivals, and curated translation workshops, both Catalyst Press and Modjaji Books aim to build bridges across continents and amplify underrepresented voices.
One of the cornerstones of this alliance will be a series of global author events — including virtual readings, interactive Q&A sessions, and expert panel discussions — designed to reach readers in real time regardless of geographic boundaries. These events will feature diverse storytellers from across Africa and the diaspora, sharing personal journeys, cultural heritage, and literary insights in live or recorded formats, streamed via platforms like YouTube, Instagram Live, and X Spaces.
The collaboration also extends to community-based initiatives such as mentorship programs for emerging writers, student-led literary competitions, and translation residencies that promote cross-cultural storytelling. These efforts will not only support literary development but also foster deeper understanding and empathy between readers of different backgrounds.
If you’re a writer, translator, academic, or cultural organizer interested in contributing to these initiatives, we welcome your involvement.
